Each application is designed to handle a specific part of model railroad operations. They work independently or together.
Plan, build, and run realistic operating sessions. Signal manages industries, car orders, switch lists, and live crew sync — everything your layout needs to operate like a real railroad.
More details coming soon. Waypoint is the next application in the Yardmaster Suite — built with the same focus on realism, simplicity, and the way model railroaders actually work.
Meridian is in development. Stay tuned for more information as Railworks Studio continues to expand the Yardmaster Suite with tools built for serious model railroaders.
From the Developer
Model railroad operations have always been my favorite part of the hobby. I enjoy the challenge of moving freight with a purpose, building realistic trains, and creating operating sessions that feel like a real railroad. For me, that's where the hobby truly comes alive.
Over the years, I tried a variety of tools to help manage industries, switch lists, and operating sessions. Some were incredibly powerful but difficult to learn. Others were simple to use but lacked the flexibility needed for different layouts and operating styles.
Eventually I realized I wasn't looking for another tool — I was looking for software that didn't exist.
That's why we started Railworks Studio.
Our goal is simple: build thoughtful software that supports realistic railroad operations without getting in the way of the hobby. Software that's approachable, reliable, and practical enough to use during a live operating session.
Signal is the first application in what we call the Yardmaster Suite — a growing family of applications designed specifically for model railroad operators. Every feature exists because it solves a real problem we've encountered while operating our own layout or running sessions with friends.
Railworks Studio has always been a family effort. My wife, Diana, has been involved from the very beginning — testing ideas, offering honest feedback, catching the details I miss, and helping shape both the software and the experience we want our customers to have. This company wouldn't exist without her encouragement and support.
We're just getting started. Our vision is to build software that helps model railroaders spend less time managing paperwork and more time enjoying realistic operations with friends.
Thank you for visiting Railworks Studio. We hope you'll enjoy using our software as much as we've enjoyed creating it.
